Students are taught the
foundational skills needed to create beautiful, useful, and
valuable finished wood products. The first weeks of the course
focus on shop safety, the correct use of woodworking tools, and
fundamental woodworking techniques. To apply these newly
acquired skills, students will work on small projects for the
remainder of the course. As students become more advanced in
woodworking, they are encouraged to enroll in the Woodworking II
course. Steel toed boots and safety glasses are required.
*Materials purchased separately.
Woodworking
II A continuation of the
Woodworking I class, Woodworking II allows students to build on
their experience and skill by creating more advanced woodworking
projects. Students may choose their own project based on the
amount of time required to build it and the allowable space in
the shop area. In past programs, students have built cabinets,
small storage buildings, children’s playhouses, and various home
furnishings. Steel toed boots and safety glasses are required.
