MAINE RECREATION GUIDE

 

This course focuses on the skills and knowledge that aspiring guides need to successfully lead groups on camping, hiking, and canoeing trips in the Maine wilderness.  The program emphasizes methods that help people enjoy and preserve Maine’s outdoor tradition and can be useful to anyone who wishes to increase his or her outdoor skills and understanding of the natural world.  The curriculum includes Maine laws and regulations, map and compass reading, lost person scenario training, animal and track identification, safety, outdoor cooking, watercraft regulations and rescue techniques.  Please note that the Maine Guide Exam fee is not included in the cost of this course and Maine Guide candidates must pass a first aid class before being licensed.
